Successful Therapy of Hepatitis-C in HIV Coinfected Patients

Four Hepatitis-C (HCV) infected human volunteers received a 18 - 24 hour intravenous infusion of a novel non toxic anti viral agent, Zetetin®.

Three of the four were coinfected with HIV and demonstrated a mean HCV viral load reduction of 45%. post treatment.

One of the HCV HIV coinfected subjects, (HCV +4 yrs & co-infected with HIV, +12 yrs), with a pre treatment viral load of 4,480,000 copies/ml of HCV by PCR, one week prior to treatment, evidenced an apparent cure by eliminating all HCV virus (HCV non-detectable by PCR), measured one week post administration of Zetetin®.

A transcutaneous liver biopsy one year prior to treatment reported , "Final Diagnosis: Chronic Hepatitis, Histologic Activity Index 11"

This subject has viral load and HCV antibody assays performed every 4-6 months. The HCV results remain non-detectable by PCR 6 years post treatment.

At the 2 year post treatment laboratory analysis, the HCV antibody converted from "positive" to "non-detectable" and all subsequent HCV antibody reports continue to be reported as non-detectable.

Zetetin® treatment produced an apparent cure of Hepatitis C in one patient. Two other patients were alive and well at the 5 years post treatment mark. One patient is deceased from cause unrelated to HIV or HCV.
